Hillcountry Network Systems is a family operated business located in rural Hays county Texas. Formed in 2002 as the collaborative effort of a small group of computer engineers, the mission of Hillcountry Networks is to provide affordable technology support and internet connectivity to under
serviced communities, such as we have here in the Austin West Hill Country.
Richard Snider is CTO and founder of Hillcountry Network Systems. Mr. Snider, a Registered Professional Engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, has extensive programming and software development experience in Oracle DB, Java, Perl, VB, and Java Script. Select web sites developed by Mr. Snider appear in the top five results of every major search engine and have captured the number 1 ranking positions in Alta Vista, Lycos, and Hotbot. From 1997 to 2000 Mr. Snider managed the Texas Instruments Electronic Security Department with responsibility for worldwide electronic security systems standards and designs. Later he managed international B2B connectivity projects for Texas Instruments.
Mr. Snider has over 35 years experience in high technology industries with expertise in RF radio and pager system operation, lightning protection design, and satellite and video system design, installation, and support. His expertise in designing, installing, and operating wireless LANs utilizing equipment based on the IEEE 802.11 standard puts Mr. Snider at the forefront of the current generation of technologies applied to wireless Internet access.

Jim Snider is President and co-founder of Sugarloaf Network Systems. He is also the Vice President and co-founder of Hillcountry Networks. Mr. Snider has over 25 years experience in the area of operating systems software and network support and has worked extensively with Windows, TCP/IP, and Unix. He was a data base applications developer for Intel from 1977 to 1979 and managed the field technical support organizations for Cray Research and Silicon Graphics in the US, Canada, Europe, and Latin America from 1980 to 2001. Prior to forming Sugarloaf Network Systems Mr. Snider owned and operated Multi-Media Computing Solutions, a video editing software development company.
Mr. Snider is a charter member of several DC area technology initiatives including the Montgomery County Public Schools Global Access Technology Committee and the Bethesda Chevy Chase High School Technology Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Texas a Austin, and completed graduate training in statistics and computer science. Mr. Snider's hobbies include music, kayaking, hiking, and attending his children's sporting events, and he often does volunteer work with non-profit organizations and the elderly.
